For my most recent project, the concert poster I was influenced by a couple different artists. The album title Future Nostalgia made me immediately think of the old TV show the Jetsons I would watch as a kid. The show's interpretation of how the future would look was something I thought would serve as good inspiration, that led me to discovering there was actually a bigger artist movement called Retro Futurism. I looked at examples from different artists known for their work in that style, namely Bruce McCall and the work he did for the New Yorker.
Eventually after viewing some of the work that he did for the magazine, I was able to create my final poster pulling from a number of different ideas. Namely the retro futurism movement, the Jetsons idea of a city up in the clouds, using lots of bright and fun colors somewhat inspired by the Rainbow Road race track from the video game Mario Kart, and implementing the convertible and large blue full moon from the album's cover art.
